Annual Irish-themed festival for expats and locals alike which always features a few interesting musical acts. In previous years Kila, John Spillane, Dublin Workingman's Band, Garrett Wall and more have performed.

 

This is the tenth year of this festival focussing heavily on all things flamenco. De Cajón forms part of an association of flamenco festivals, along with the Festival of Jerez, the Malaga Festival and Flamenco Festival Caja Madrid.

 

A long-running festival which takes place in some of Barcelona's finest music venues, bringing some of the most famous exponents of guitar playing in the world to our doorstep. A welcome annual event. 2010 is the 21st edition.

Not to mention a climate that forces the cattle to become hippies and refuse to cut their hair. Oh and thanks for the Banks!!!! Comedy is, lets say, in the genes.

 

 

 

Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird is to be performed during the second part of the concert, while images of the musicians, recorded live by a series of cameras, are projected on to a large screen. During the first part, six works by different composers with their stage settings, will help the audience enjoy and discover how this great instrument, namely the Banda, sounds and its unique characteristics.

We could fall into the temptation of thinking that this impressive group, made up of eight of today’s most acclaimed jazz musicians, is a mere juxtaposition of talents, but we would be wrong, as it is a true group, a community in which eight restless spirits come together in perfect harmony to create. Their repertoire changes every year: besides creating new tunes, the group members take a great from the history of jazz and offer arrangements of their work. Such geniuses as Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk have been through their mill, while 2010 will be the turn of a classic of hard-bop: pianist Horace Silver. So, the imposing wind section will join a no less exuberant rhythm division to reward us with a fresh and radiant revision of the musical heritage of Horace Silver, co-founder of the Jazz Messengers.
