A long-running festival which takes place in some of Barcelona's finest music venues, bringing some of the most famous exponents of guitar playing in the world to our doorstep. A welcome annual event. 2010 is the 21st edition.

Iconic indie rock band PAVEMENT are set to include a Dublin date in their one-off reunion tour in May 2010. The legendary leaders of 1990s American lo-fi rock have confirmed a single TRIPOD show for Tuesday 4th May, following their announcement in September of a one-time limited run of reunion shows around the world next year. Mark Ibold, Scott "Spiral Stairs" Kannberg, Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich and Steve West will take to the stage, more than 10 years after their final show together in London's Brixton Academy in 1999. We're assured that a permanent reunion is not in the offing. No new material is due for release. Catch them while you can.

 

Combining jagged, roaring guitars and stop-start dynamics with melodic pop hooks, intertwining male-female harmonoes and evocative, cryptic lyrics, the Pixies were one of the most influential American alternative rock bands of the late 80s.

Der Rosenkavalier takes place during the reign of the Empress Maria Teresa and was created by Richard Strauss at the start of the 20th century as an homage to Mozart—Strauss's character of Octavian was based on Cherubino from The Marriage of Figaro. Last performed at the Liceu in the mid-Eighties, this production is the creation of the Semperoper Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden, with musical direction by Michael Boder and stage design under the direction of Uwe Eric Laufenberg.
