As much of a tourist trap Plaça Reial is; no matter how many bags are stolen here daily, or how many times the police, oblivious to everything else, spend their time stopping people sitting beside the fountain; or how many junkies and drunks use the arches of the square to hide, piss, sleep, shit and shoot-up, it IS still possible to find something authentic and genuine here. That place is the Pipa Club. Located on the second floor of a nondescript building in the corner, you have to find the right doorbell at the right time of the night to get in. Once you're in, you're transported to another world, a pipe temple, a cosy atmosphere of wood, old tiles and antiques. A pool table, a small but beautiful bar, a room for tango, a stage for adhoc events... it's worth dodging the very worst of Barcelona outside, to find the very best of Barcelona inside.Location: Plaça Reial, 3, Ciutat Vella, Barcelona 08002
