Description:
Teatre Victòria is one of the more mythical theatres on Barcelona's Paral.lel street. Founded originally in 1905 under the name Teatro Pabellón Soriano, which itself was founded as a cafe-concert-venue with variety and magazine style shows. In 1916, it was reformed by the Josep Santpere Company and offered vaudeville for many years. Also in 1916, after the Soriano family had sold it, the theatre changed its name again and started being called Teatre Victòria, as it's known today. Between 1996 and 99, the theatre was partnered by the Gran Teatre de Liceu, which used it to display a number of seasons of Opera, after the latter was destroyed by fire. After 1986 the theatre was managed by the 3xtr3s company, formed by an association of theatre companies, such as Tricicle, Dagoll Dagom and Anexa. Teatre Victòria has held many important musicals for the Dagoll Dagom company, most notably "Mar i Cel" in 1988, and more recently the great success "Grease, the musical of your life" in 2006. Right now, it organises commercial theatre of high quality, according to its own blurb, with many members and a seating capacity of 1224 people.Location: Av.
